Activision, makers of mega-popular music game Guitar Hero 3, released a new song pack featuring SoCal ska kids turned pop idols No Doubt. All three tracks come from the 1995 album Tragic Kingdom, with Sunday Morning being the most ska.

It’s not terribly traditional, but it’s a start. Let’s hope more ska, even from other Third Wave bands, makes it’s way onto video game consoles in the future.

Yeah, I know, this isn’t Monday anymore. Life got the better of me yesterday and I didn’t find a clip for this week’s MPM. So I sincerely apologize to anyone who was traumatized by the lack of ska clips. To make up for it, here is a clip of UK duo The Dualers, doing a mostly prerecorded version of Lord Creator’s Don’t Stay Out Late. They have a band, but apparently they’re all getting lunch or something.

This week, I figured we should go animated for MPM. This video comes courtesy of German ska band B-Mannschaft for the song Mach mir die Blutgrätsche, which translates to Make Me The Blutgratsche, of course. The animation is crude, but has a kind of a Home Movies vibe to it, which is always cool.

Autoblog found a listing on Craigslist (couldn’t find the original post) for The Aquabats!’s (punctuation in the face of sheer awesomeness can be difficult) RV. Features include an AquaSpoiler to keep the van level, rooftop dome and rocket engines.

Some enterprising ska fan decided to stitch together videos from two of the Third Wave’s biggest bands, The Pietasters and Hepcat. Watching these, I always wonder where (or if) these aired, because with the exception of Skaturday on MTV, I can’t think of any US station that played this stuff (Canada had Much Music, which was were I first saw Fishbone).

Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can get a hold of some of the Skaturday segments? Carson Daly dressed as a rude boy just tickles me to no end.

We are fairly non-political on the show, mostly because Mike is a crazy libertarian and not worth debating. But when something as important as this comes across the wires, even our political agnosticism must be set aside. Clearly, the race for President is over.

Variety is reporting today that legendary director Martin Scorsese has signed on to direct an as-yet-untitled Bob Marley documentary, due out in early 2010. This would be Scorsese’s second music documentary so far, the first being his look at The Rolling Stones in last year’s Shine A Light.

Granted, Bob Marley is probably one of the most documented figures in reggae (or maybe even all) music, but Scorsese rarely puts out crap. Anyone seen Shine A Light?
